Organize the house.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! It's the end of the year and the beginning of a new one. 2013 bring it on!!!!

Now, it's time to get your house uncluttered. Now as a designer I cannot stand an unorganized cluttered house. Plus, the organization needs style. Have no idea where to start? This is where I come in. I am going to give you a list of things to organize month by month because honestly it takes a long time to organize a house. Now you can twist things to your style, home, etc. I am just a reference per say. 10 ways per month on how to organize your home.

January

The Holiday season just ended and you realize you didn't use most of your decorations that you have we'll this is pretty simple.... Get rid of what you didn't use!

You notice all you got from all your presents it clothes or your closet is just plain full. Here is what you do:

1. Take all that is hanged and turn it backwards. When you wear it put and put it back in the closet put the hanger the right way. By the end of the month all the hangers that are still backwards, are obviously the clothes you don't wear, so donate them to the thrift store or them away.

2. Shoes. You all know what I'm talking about. Take shower rods. Take 2 rods and stagger them for heels. Take 2 more and make them flat for flats. And then just take your boots and leave the, on the floor underneath the shower rods. Or you could just by those shoe organizers.

3. Take a hanger.... Take shower rings and take scarves. Put scarves through the shower rings and then put the rings on the hanger and hang them up! Ta da!

4. Next, you know that January is the month for new resolutions. How about new habits? We all know its hard to keep organized. Here is some great free printables for your home organizing needs from Sissy Print. http://sissyprint.blogspot.com/2011/09/freebie-friday-monthly-dinner-calender.html?m=1

5. Another way to get organized is useful apps for all of you that have smartphones. There is a great app called lemon wallet.... It's free. You can keep everything in your wallet on that app and even organize your receipts. Which great to keep on budget!

6. Have home binders. Simple Dimples blog has an excellent post on this. http://www.simple-dimples.com/2012/05/organization-binders.html?m=1

7. Trying to organize your home finances try this free website: http://www.mint.com. They also have apps. It shows you how much you spend in any category.

8. Have a bunch of club cards? Put them on a key ring and just leave them in your purse. That way your keys aren't overwhelmed by them.

9. Go through your shoes. Take out the ones you hardly wear. That way they don't clutter up your house. Because if It is anything like mine. Shoes are EVERYWHERE.

10. Finally, organize those linen closets. Sheets are easy to fold if you know how. Fold the sheets into a pillowcase. That way you have the whole set all together.

Rory 1st Birthday

A dear friend of mine wanted me to do pictures of her daughter Rory! Who is just a month older than Colton. I have to say its such a challenge to take pictures of a kid that does not want their pictures taken! Although, I have to say I did get some cute pictures of hers that I just adore!

Hey everybody! It's that exciting time of the year when I get to do all kinds of home decor projects that are for Christmas. I saw this awesome idea on interest, but when I clicked on the link it was just spam so I decided to form my own kind of project. Are you excited? I am!

Noel Decor:

Items needed for project:

• Paint
• Paint Brushes
• Letters: N,O,E,L
• Paper towel

I bought the letters at my local craft store JoAnn. They were out of the paper mache letters that I prefer. So I improvised and did smaller wooden letters that they had on sell (LOVE Black Friday). I forgot to take before pictures of the letters (oops!), so just imagine wooden letters. 

I choose a brown and a red for the colors of my decor.

I love using Martha Stewart Craft supplies mostly because they seem to be the best to use. I love the rustic red and the deep brown. Perfect for this project by the way!

I also used Martha Stewart Paint Brushes. I used the one on the left first.

Take the Brown first and paint all the letters. Make sure you get the sides of the letters, because you know some one will see them. Once you are done painting the brown on they will look like this:

Now let them dry a little bit, but before they are all the way dry (they will have a tacky feel) paint on the red. Don't make it perfect. Just slap it on. If you think you put on too much red, go ahead and put a little brown over it to dull it. 

I know bad picture, but my baby FINALLY took a nap so I did this project really quick. Now you can tell there are hints of red in the letters. I just love the look, but make sure you know when to stop, because sometimes I know I can go way too far with paint, but for the first time in a long time I knew when to stop! Yay me!

Are you still wondering what to do with the paper towel? Besides putting it under to make sure you don't ruin your table with paint. Well here ya go! When the red paint is still tacky, not all the way dry, take the paper towel and dab it on the letters, it gives it a weathered look. 

See... weathered.

Now for the final decision. This one is up to you. You can either leave the letters alone just that way or you can do what I did. Next I actually hot glued the letters together in a snazzy way and then I will hang it up.... as soon as I find a place for it.

Ta Da! Now all I have to do is find a place to hang it with my christmas decorations.

Holiday cards

Hey everybody! You know it's that time of year again when you see the leaves falling off and Halloween has come and gone.

Then it's the remembering all over again about all things that you need to get done for this holiday season. One if the biggest things for me is the holiday cards!!!

This time of year it takes a lot if planning and getting everything ready. I like to send out my cards in November that way everyone has them before Christmas.

One of the hardest things for holiday cards is to decide what kind of pictures and also what to wear!!! My husband doesn't understand why I always freak out over these family pictures. You want to know why? I want them to be perfect. Want to know a secret? Perfection never happens in any family pictures. Which is is GOOD. the pictures will show your families' personality.

The hardest thing with family pictures is finding the right outfits. Some of the best family outfits (I think) is when no one is wearing the EXACT SAME THING. match colors, have the some girls wear a skirt and some wear pants. Here are some outfit ideas for all of you:

Here are some picture ideas you can do that doesn't really involve the whole family:

This one is a great idea if you have a new little one in the family. I love the lighting and to be honest it saves you money because this is an easy at home picture for mommy to do.

If you have those pets that you just love and are part of your family. Send out a holiday card with THEM in it. They are family. Show everyone just how much!

Most of you probably don't have that fancy program to make your own Christmas card so here is a little secret of mine: I don't make my christmas cards. I am not that great at making cards.
